Image: Professor Roberto Docampo has been awarded Argentina’s RAICES [ROOTS] Prize, an award established to recognize Argentinian born scientists working abroad who have promoted ties that strengthen science and technology initiatives in Argentina. Docampo was recognized for his dedication to training Argentine fellows and for welcoming Argentine collaborators to his lab over the years. Docampo has received several Fogarty International Collaboration Awards from the NIH with Argentine collaborators, including a Global Infectious Diseases Training Program Award to train Argentine students at the University of San Martin. On November 22, Docampo also received a Doctorate Honoris Causa from the National University of San Martin, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for his contributions to the knowledge of Trypanosoma cruzi and Chagas disease, and for his continuous support to the training of young researchers.
