Image: Carly has been PI of BCEENET- Biological Collections in Ecology and Evolution Network, an organization with the goal of broadening access to undergraduate research by using free digital data and open source analysis tools. They started in 2020 to mitigate loss of research opportunities during online learning, and since then, more than 2000 students have participated in research. They have since been awarded a $2 million grant from NSF to study the impacts of student participation in the course-based undergraduate research experiences on student identity and learning.
