Dr. Tarleton is recognized for his research on Chagas disease and its cause, the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi.

Swati was honored for her thesis research on protein transport in the parasite Toxoplasma. She recently graduated and is currently conducting postdoctoral research at University of Michigan Medical School.

Samarchith Kurup, a fourth year graduate student in the Tarleton Lab, won the People's Choice Award in the 2012 Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition for his presentation "Improving Immunity to Trypanosoma Cruzi".

Dr. Veronica Jimenez, a postdoctoral fellow in the Docampo Lab, won a "Pathway to Independence Award (K99/R00)" from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). She will develop her work on the "Characterization of potassium channels in the human parasite Trypanosoma cruzi" .

Graduate student Noelia Lander was awarded a one-year continuation of her predoctoral fellowship from the American Heart Association.
